The evidence, explained

Science, with the details left in.

A useful study tells you who took part, what they took, and what remains unknown. Explore a curated starting point for the ingredients in our collection.

Promising is not the same as proven for everyone.

Ingredient research and finished-product testing answer different questions. Human trials, laboratory models, and quality documents should each be read in their own context.

These summaries are educational. They do not replace medical advice or establish that our finished formulas treat or prevent a disease.

Human crossover trial

Paraxanthine, attention & short-term memory

Yoo et al. · Nutrients · 2021

Study design
13 healthy adults · 200 mg Enfinity® · single dose, six hours of testing
What it found
Some measures of memory, reasoning, and sustained attention improved relative to placebo.
What to keep in mind
Small, short, industry-funded study. It does not establish long-term effects, universal tolerability, or freedom from sleep disruption. This was an ingredient study, not a trial of the Vita Bloom Labs finished product.

Exploratory human trial

Akkermansia supplementation & metabolic markers

Depommier et al. · Nature Medicine · 2019

Study design
Adults with overweight or obesity and insulin resistance · live or pasteurized preparations · three months
What it found
The pilot study reported improvements in selected metabolic measures, particularly with the pasteurized preparation.
What to keep in mind
Exploratory research using a different dose and preparation from this product. It does not establish equivalent effects from a 1-billion-AFU capsule or support treating obesity or diabetes with this supplement.

Laboratory study — not a human trial

Tributyrin digestion & the gut environment

Duysburgh et al. · Frontiers in Nutrition · 2025

Study design
Simulated digestion, a human-gut model, and cell cultures · CoreBiome® tributyrin
What it found
Researchers observed increased butyrate and changes in microbial and cell-barrier measures in laboratory models.
What to keep in mind
An industry-funded in-vitro study of a different branded formulation. It cannot establish clinical benefit or the amount delivered to a person’s colon by Vita Bloom Labs Tributyrin.

Randomized human trial

Fava bean peptides alongside resistance training

Mohan et al. · BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health · 2025

Study design
72 adults aged 19–40 · 2.4 g daily · 56 days alongside resistance training
What it found
The study reported improvements in selected strength and endurance outcomes relative to placebo.
What to keep in mind
A short study in a specific training context, with authors employed by the ingredient developer. Study outcomes do not guarantee individual muscle gains. The Vita Bloom Labs serving is four capsules; study capsule counts should not replace product directions.

Randomized human trial — negative finding

D-mannose & recurrent urinary tract infection

Hayward et al. · JAMA Internal Medicine · 2024

Study design
598 women with recurrent UTIs · 2 g D-mannose daily · six months
What it found
D-mannose did not significantly reduce medically attended, clinically suspected UTIs compared with placebo.
What to keep in mind
The dose and formulation differ from UroDefend, which has 300 mg D-mannose per serving plus other ingredients. This result is a reason to avoid promising UTI prevention; it is not a trial of the finished UroDefend formula.

Know your batch

Quality information you can ask for.

A batch report can help identify the product tested, lot number, laboratory, test date, methods, and results. A facility certification and a finished-product test report are different documents.

Have a question about your bottle? Send our team the product name and lot number so we can help with the relevant testing information.
